Of all the discounted airlines available, my most favorite has to be Southwest (JetBlue is a close second). First of all, Southwest does an excellent job with branding, as I know exactly who they are and where I can go to buy tickets (only at Southwest.com). Second, they offer flights to just about everywhere I need to go, which is a great convenience and last but most important, their flights are the usually the least expensive and they dont charge for your first checked bag. Now, I can use the Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card from Chase to make my flights even more rewarding.
Right now Chase is offering a sweet sign up bonus for new Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card members. For a limited time, you will earn two free flights after your first purchase, and the ability to earn unlimited free flights by redeeming your rewards earned through everyday purchases. These points are good toward a free flight anywhere Southwest flies, or you can use them for international travel, hotels, gifts, and more.
More Southwest airlines perks: You will be able to check your bags for free and you will not be subjected to blackout dates. Your points never expire and you can earn unlimited reward seats. The final perk is one of the best you will not have to pay any additional fees if you need to change your flight. This means you can book the early bird fares and change your trip dates later if your plans change (a rare feature in this day and age!).
In terms of rewards programs after the initial sign-up bonus, all cardholders will receive 2 points per dollar spent on Southwest flights, 2 Points per $1 spent on Southwest Hotel and Car Rental Partner purchases, and 1 point per dollar spent on everything else.
You will also receive 6,000 Points every year on your Card member Anniversary thats equal to $100 toward a Wanna Get Away® Fare.
If you are a frequent flier and Southwest is your preferred airline, then take a look at this card. Just be aware that it does carry a $99 annual fee. Of course the annual fee balances out because you will earn $100 toward a Wanna Get Away® Fare each year so you are essentially prepaying $100 toward a flight each year. Niche credit cards like the Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards® Credit Card from Chase are great simply for the bonus opportunities and the specific rewards program. Southwest doesnt fly everywhere, so make sure you check to see if there are hubs near you and if so, consider signing up for the Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card from Chase.
